Here you will find the answers to some of the more frequently asked questions regarding the way we work. For anything you can't find the answer to, don't hesitate to send our head office a message via the contact form HERE.
Is it all inclusive?
Yes. We have a fully inclusive care package for our residents. We feel it is important to make everything as easy to understand and transparent as possible so there are no hidden charges and all prices quoted include care home accommodation, food and everything else related to the care we provide. Will the cost of care go up if my loved one becomes ill?
No. Any increases in the cost of care are not linked to the health status of your loved one. As part of any well run business, costs and income are reviewed annually, but the health of your loved one is not a factor in determining such things.
Will my loved one have to move out if they become frail, or can no longer help themselves?
We do our utmost to ensure that once a resident comes to stay with us, they remain with us regardless of any deterioration in their condition. However, if a resident deteriorates beyond our ability to offer quality of life, then we would arrange a best interests meeting with everybody involved. Ultimately, it is the health and well being of our residents which overrides everything else!
What are the visiting hours?
We have an open house and you can visit as and when you want to, barring any possible limitations that may be imposed upon us in relation to lingering Covid-19 precautions. We generally ask that you let us know in advance before you visit.
Can I take my loved one out?
Trips out are always welcomed by our residents, whether they are with other residents or just with friends and family. We request however that we are informed ahead of time where possible, so that we can ensure there are no missed appointments and any medications required whilst they are out of the home are prepared for you.
Do you offer palliative and end of life care?
Yes we do. We pride ourselves in being able to offer whatever care is needed when a resident’s care need change and are in need of palliative or end of life care. We do our best to accommodate family and friends in these difficult times, as we appreciate how difficult they can be. Please speak with the home manager to find out more should you feel the need.
Can you look after my loved one if they have dementia?
Yes. All our homes are equipped to care for those living with dementia related illnesses.
My mum is diabetic, can you cope with this?
If the condition is relatively easy to manage then we can usually arrange district nursing input from the local authority.
I have a colostomy, can you support me with this?
Yes, we can usually facilitate any care needs involving colostomy bags, though there may be some involvement from local authority district nursing teams.
I have family in Canada, will I be able to email them?
Yes. We have good Wi-Fi reception, but if there are any problems we will be happy to help you keep in touch with your loved ones.
I see you have lots of activities going on, do I have to join in?
The choice is yours, you can join in as much or as little as you wish. If you prefer to keep to your own company then this is absolutely fine, although you’re missing out!!
Can I bring in my own bed, I’m used to my bed?
Absolutely, it’s your home to furnish as you wish, provided that it does not interfere with the delivery of personal care to you.
I like to go for a walk on a daily basis, can I still do this?
Yes, we are here to promote independence, not take it away. We have outside areas that are safe for our residents to enjoy. If you want to leave the home’s grounds then please speak to the home manager, who can look at alternative arrangements.
I’m scared to go to hospital on my own, if I need to go can someone come with me?
Yes, we will always ensure you have company on any appointments you have to attend. The earlier we know about the appointment (if we have not made it for you on your behalf) then the easier this is to arrange. If you would prefer a friend or family member to accompany you, please speak to a senior member of staff who can arrange this for you.
I sometimes forget to take my medication, can you help me with this?
Yes, we can assist with ordering and storing your medication for you. Our care staff can take care of everything related to your medication if you wish, or if you just require prompting and are capable of taking medications by yourself, that is fine also.
